Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 – 21:00
Admission is free. No tickets or pre-booking.
As part of the new exhibition Fragile State, the PinchukArtCentre collaborates with MAI to present new iteration of Marina Abramovic’s Generator (2014/2017). In this work, Abramovic invites the public to experience their body, their mind, and the space surrounding them, completely deprived of any hearing or sight. The experience brings the notion of Fragile State onto the viewer’s body and mind, placing them in a position of vulnerability while concentrating on a central notion in Abramovic’s work: “nothingness”. As she said: “The hardest thing is to do something which is close to nothing.” This work was originally created at Sean Kelly Gallery, New York.

The Cleaner marks Marina Abramovic’s first major retrospective in Europe, which ran from February 18 – May 21, 2017 at Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. This exhibition travels to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark (June 16 – October 22, 2017), Hennie Osted Kunstsenter (November 24, 2017 – March 11, 2018), Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn, Germany (April 20 – August 12, 2018), and Palazzo Strozzi (September 21, 2018 – January 19, 2019).
